Sugar Baked Doughnuts 

 

Makes 12 

 

Ingredients

60ml vegetable oil 

120ml buttermilk 

2 eggs

100g caster sugar 

½ teaspoon salt 

1 teaspoon baking powder 

½ teaspoon vanilla extract 

130g plain flour 

30g caster sugar, for coating

Non-stick spray 

 

You will also need

Doughnut pan  

Pipping bag.

 

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC/350ºF.

  2. Spray the doughnut pan with some non-stick spray.

  3. In a bowl mix together the oil, buttermilk, eggs, sugar (100g), salt, baking powder and vanilla until fully combined.

  4. Sift in the flour and mix until smooth. 

  5. Place mix into a pipping bag (or Ziploc bag) and cut the corner. 

  6. Fill the doughnut pan ¾ of the way.

  7. Bake for 15 minutes in the middle of the oven. 

  8. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before removing form the pan. 

  9. Place the remaining caster sugar (30g) and cinnamon (if using) into a Ziploc bag.

  10. Drop your doughnuts, one at a time, into the bag until fully coated.

  11. Eat straight away or store in an airtight container.
