Chickpea Houmous 

 

Serves 8-10

 

Ingredients

1 x 400g of tinned chickpeas

1 small clove of garlic, peeled

1 tbsp tahini 

1 lemon 

1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 

2 tsp cumin 

Pinch cayenne pepper

Salt to taste

 

You will also need

A food processor

 

Method

  1. Drain the chickpeas and place them into a food processor.

  2. Add the garlic, tahini, olive oil, cayenne pepper and cumin.

  3. Season with pinch of salt and a good squeeze of lemon juice.

  4. Place the lid on and blitz. Use a spatula to scrape the sides of the food processor and blitz until smooth.

  5. If too thick, add splash of water to loosen and season to taste. 

  6. Place in a bowl to serve.

I like to serve with some raw crunchy vegetables such as carrots and radishes or with some warm flatbreads.
